Olio - South City - The.Best.Eggsalad.EVER
Township Grocer - Edwardsville - This is predominantly a shop, but they offer 3 sandwiches: Veggie, Meat, or Egg Salad. The very talented lady behind this shop used to be the chef at the beloved Fond (RIP.) All ingredients here are well sourced.
Rooster - Downtown - Predominantly a creperie, and a very good one, but they also have a few sandwiches. The egg salad contains celery and pickles served on your choice of bread or in a crepe. Go for the bread.
Crown Candy Kitchen - North City - Super retro atmosphere. Barely changed since it opened in 1913! Generous amount of egg salad on "wheat" toast. Can't promise the eggs are well sourced here, but this place is a must if you have never been. Comes with ripple chips. Don't go during peak hours unlesss you want to stand in a que out the door!
Luvy Duvy's - Benton Park - Cute place. Wish the bread were better, but overall a tasty sandwich. Cannot speak for the eggs. Chips and a pickle.
The Fountain on Locust - Midtown - Beautiful new 1920's decor. Egg salad is made with celery, onion, capers, dijon mustard and a layer of fresh spinach, on wheat bread. Choice of 3 interesting side salads or chips. I have a call in re. eggs. Fingers crossed.
Winslow's Home - University City - Great great menu. All ingredients trustworthy including the eggs, which are crushed with Mayo, Creme Fraiche, and Black Pepper. Served on bed of Greens, but you can ask for it in sandwich form.
Pita Plus - Creve Ceour - Mediterranean food is predominant at this strip mall shop, but the egg salad gets good reviews too. Served in your choice of white or wheat homemade pita with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions, pickles and pita chips. Not sure about the eggs.
Companion - Clayton and Ladue - This bakery offers many delicious bread choices, but the standard for the egg salad is the New York Rye. In the absence of a true whole wheat option, I would recommend the Rustic for this particular sandwich. You can order a whole or half sandwich. Served with lettuce. Sides extra. Will find out the story with the eggs.
Bowood Farms - Central West End - This urban farm is in a rough enough neighborhood, so it's not open for dinner. The menu changes frequently, but there is often an egg salad on the go. Call first. All ingredients are responsibly sourced.
Southwest Market Cuisine - The Hill - This is like subway, only with real cheese, real bread, more topping choices, and a really efficient and friendly staff. Order sandwiches on white or wheat french bread by the inch, or choose from a variety of sliced breads. A 3.5 inch is surprisingly filling for the veggie sub sandwich, but I prefer sliced bread for egg salad. This particular egg salad is a little too sloppy for my tastes, and I doubt the eggs are happy. But, the owner, who is usually working the register, is an incredibly sweet man, and is always so excited to offer you a free fresh baked cookie.
The Edible Difference - Downtown - This deli has been a reliable lunch spot for over twenty years. Customize your sandwich with a wide choice of breads and toppings, even shredded carrots! Egg salad is good, and comes with chips or your choice of side.
